Setting Up A Remote Workforce

Exciting possibilities are coming to your Star2Star portfolio! We are always seeking future-forward solutions to enhance both your and your customers' businesses. In an effort to increase scalability and lay the foundation for continuously evolving solutions, Star2Star is rolling out our next-generation cloud infrastructure.

We wanted to remind you that all new remote softphone requests will be affected by the rollout of our new infrastructure. Beginning Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 9:00am EST, the creation of a new softphone extension (StarPhone™ for Desktop, StarPhone™ for iOS and StarPhone™ for Android) will no longer be selectable on StarCoud+ locations. This change will not impact existing softphone extensions that have been created.

If you are concerned about receiving calls on your system while away from the office, we can set up Find Me/Follow Me at no additional cost. If you want to use softphones to receive and make calls from your business number, we currently have a special offer for remote work add-ons, including desktop and mobile softphones, business SMS, and quick set-up for only $4.99 a month per user.

Please see the below processes for the creation of all new softphone extensions (StarPhone™ for Desktop, StarPhone™ for iOS and StarPhone™ for Android) which will take advantage of the StarCloud infrastructure.

Adding SoftPhone Extensions for an Existing Customer to a New Cloud Location

  1. Please reach out to the Sales Customer Success Team 833-630-1234 to request your extensions.  
  2. The Sales Customer Success Team will create the new Cloud location, which will be identifiable by the location name beginning with “Cloud RW-”. This will be used for you to create the new softphone extensions.
  3. The Order will transition through Order Management like any other order but will be fast-tracked with none of the normal requirements, information, or upfront money.
  4. The location will be set up using the same address as the original location for E911 Purposes by Order Management.
  5. As the Channel Partner, please build out the new extensions, destinations, and adjust any Incoming call routing that will be needed to support the new Cloud location. Please remember to run the Installation Wizard to bring the location online.
    1. Note: StarPhone™ for Desktop extensions do not currently support individual E911 registration and use the Locations default E911. It is recommended these users use their cell phones if they need to reach 911 services.
    2. Customers should be directed to the application terms of use which apply to all softphone applications, found at www.star2star.com/applications-terms-of-use.

SoftPhone Extensions for New Customers and New Location Orders

  1. For all new customer/location orders that contain softphone extensions, Star2Star’s Order Management Team will create the new Cloud location, which will be identifiable by the location name beginning with “Cloud RW-”. This will be used for you to create the new softphone extensions.
  2. As the Channel Partner, please build out the new extensions, destinations, and Incoming call routing that will be needed to support the new Cloud location and run the Installation Wizard to bring the location online.
